Kid Creole and the Coconuts is an American popular music group created and led by August Darnell. Its music incorporates a variety of styles and influences, in particular a mix of disco and world/roots music influences from Latin American, South American, Caribbean, and Trinidadian music.
Darnell's band & style are also influenced by the music & image of Cab Calloway, and conceptually inspired by the big band era.
The Coconuts are a trio of female backing vocalists/dancers whose lineup has changed throughout the years.
They had 3 UK top 10 hits in the early 1980s, with "Stool Pigeon", "Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy" and "I'm A Wonderful Thing, Baby."
